Shanghai is definitely a cosmopolitan city. From the very beginning in 1900s, there were many French concessions in Shanghai. At that time, many foreigners worked and lived in Shanghai. Built in 1920, Sinan Mansions is today a 50,000-square-meter conservation zone with 51 garden houses located on Sinan Road and Fuxing Middle Road.Now that times have changed, these western-inspired buildings have remained intact. Now Sinan Mansions is commonly known as a hip area comprising a host of bars and cafes as well as some of the city's most luxurious residences.
The Former Residence of Zhou Enlai in Shanghai (Chinese:上海周恩来故居), or Zhougongguan (Chinese:周公馆) located at 73 (formerly 107) Sinan Road, Huangpu District, in the former French Concession area of Shanghai, China, near Fuxing Park to the northeast, was the residence of Zhou Enlai (1898–1976), the first Premier of the People's Republic of China from 1949 until his death.
The three-storey house was built in the 1920s in a French style. Zhou Enlai stayed in the house during 1946. It was the Shanghai Office of the Delegates of the Communist Party of China in 1946–7. The house was listed as a municipal relic in 1959 and became a memorial in 1979. The house is open daily, 9am–5pm, free of charge.
Because more and more foreigners work and live in Shanghai, Christmas has become a very common holiday in Shanghai, however, there is no holiday.
Last weekend I went to Sinan Mansions to have a look round. Fine French architecture, plane-trees with leaves still left, and street performers performing in the open air... All of these are very pleased. If you want to have a nice and cozy afternoon in Shanghai, Sinan Mansion is the best choice. You can find a very unique Starbucks here, which locates in a French-style house. You can enjoy your coffee at a small balcony. But you have to choose a right time to go there, because the balcony is very popular~ Then you can go around this area, there are very beautiful gardens. You can stop for a while to listen to the street performers’ brilliant voices and you can also meet some friendly cats lol.

In the night, you may don’t really want to have dinner at there because all the restaurants are not very cheap. But some great art works are still good to have a look.
